PLAY SCHOOL

Our Play School Program is designed for toddlers 13 months – 24 months. Our high-quality Early Childhood staff will engage with your toddler to explore all five senses, learning to communicate verbally and visually, potty exploration, large and small motor growth, exploration, and desire to express themselves at higher developmental levels. We will continue to grow the foundation of living with Jesus as their foundation through song, play, stories, rhymes, puppet plays, and more.

Teachers in our Play School Program will engage in purposeful play following a scope and sequence that structures around toddlers’ developmental areas. These areas include:

Language and Literacy Development:

  • Begin using 1 and 2-word phrases to express wants and needs

  • Begin to understand words through the reading and interactions with book including a children’s bible

  • Begin pre-reading skills by turning pages on board books while making babble noises

  • Begin to explore writing through scribbles with chunk handled tools

Executive Function:

  •  Find a retrieve a toy, cup, blanket, book, etc

  • Begin to follow simple rules some of the time

  • Mimic others

Social and Emotional Development

  • Interact deeply with caregivers and peers

  • Growth in managing own emotions by self and with the help of caregivers

  • Notice when other children are upset and try to comfort them

Physical Development

  • Learn to walk and begin to run

  • Begin throwing and kicking skills

  • Begin conversations at mealtime

Cognitive Development

  • Begins to count objects up to three

  • Basic words spoken: up, down, hi, bye

  • Begin to differentiate by shape, size, and color

  • Explore new ways to play objects to create unique effects
